Second Saturdays

What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Weed Warriors are members of St. Luke’s! They gather on the grounds the 2nd Saturday of the month (March – November/December) to pull weeds, remove kudzu and other invasive plants, pick up branches, prune and trim plants, spread mulch, and have a great time beautifying the grounds.

The Weed Warriors’ motto is Guilt Free Weeding!  If a Warrior can’t attend on any second Saturday, no guilt is sent their way! Life happens. And maybe the best part of being a Weed Warrior is that you get to choose your Warrior name. (Maybe it’s really the donuts!)  See the list below for our Warriors (many are also Weed Scouts).  Be sure to ask why they chose their Warrior name.

Dirt Diva: Kay E.
Ivy Warrior: Christy D.
Kudzilla: Joe M.
Kudzu Ninja Warrior: Gregory L.
Mama with the Gleaming Gloat Warrior: Laura G.
No Knotweed Warrior: Maggie M.
Road Side Warrior: Jan T.
Tater Queen Warrior: Rev. Patty Mouer
Vlad the Impaler (of mulch) Warrior: David Y.
Weed Whisperer Warrior: Janet D.
Winged Warrior: Kit S.
Yankee Warrior: Blair M.

“Energizer Bunny” and “Eagle Eye”  are secret Warrior names. Can you guess who they are?

Please join us for our Second Saturday Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 13, from 9:30-11:30. Help us keep our grounds and buildings neat and organized with weeding, mulching, and a bit of stick-picking-up.
